Dr. Parry Covers, Post surgery scars by drawing cartoons

Dr. Robert parry is not only a surgeon, but also a wonderful person with a good heart. He is a doctor at Akron Children’s Hospital in Ohio, where he takes care of kids who need surgery. He comforts every patient in the hospital. He makes Dr. Parry so special is how he helps his young patients feel better after their operations.

After Dr. Parry finishes the surgery,

he nicely draws nice cartoons on the bandages that cover their scars. These drawings turn scary scars into fun and colorful pictures, making the whole hospital experience much less scary for the kids.

Christina, a mother, shared how Dr. Parry’s drawings made a significant impact on her daughter Kennedy. Dr. Parry promised Kennedy a lovely butterfly drawing on her bandage before her surgery. Kennedy was delighted to see the lovely butterfly when she awoke following her surgery. She was proud of her special bandage and didn’t care at all about the scars.

Since joining the hospital staff in 2011, Dr. Parry has supported over 10,000 children with surgeries. His drawings gained so much popularity that they even became viral on the internet. The most rewarding thing for Dr. Parry, though, is witnessing the joy his paintings present to the children, their parents, and even the medical staff.

“It’s really special for everyone,” Dr. Parry said. “Drawing these cartoons is fun for me, and it brings so much joy to the kids and their families. Even the nurses love to see what drawings I’ve done for each child. It just makes everyone feel good, and that’s what matters most.”.
