Mom Who Was Six Times Recommended To Abort Her Twins Is Now Living Happily With Them

Rachael Prescott and her husband, Cody, were going to have two special twins. The doctors told them that the twins might need some fixing of their hearts when they were born, and they also had Down Syndrome. Even though the doctors said it would be better to not have the twins, Rachael and Cody really wanted them. They already had two sons, and they were excited to meet their new sisters.

The doctors talked a lot about the twins having problems, but Rachael and Cody didn’t change their minds. They decided to keep the twins and love them no matter what. The twins were born with some heart issues, but the doctors could help them with surgery. Rachael and Cody were happy to have their special twins, and they didn’t mind the extra care they needed. They loved them just like they loved their two sons.

“At my first prenatal appointment at week eight, six specialists took turns reviewing the scans and presenting the same results. We sat through similar spiels from each, mystified at their concerns over whether our girls may have Down syndrome, when they without a doubt, did have serious heart defects. Information on navigating their cardiac situation was dwarfed by the push for genetic testing and possible means of abortion.” said Rachael.

Even though the doctors were worried about the babies Rachael and Cody were going to have, the parents didn’t want to stop their daughters from being born. The doctors talked a lot about it, but Rachael and Cody, along with their two sons, really wanted the babies. So, they became the parents of twins named Charlotte and Annette.

After the twins were born, Charlotte had to have surgery on her heart when she was only six months old. It was like a doctor helped fix something in her heart. On the other hand, Annette didn’t have any problem with her heart when she was born. It was like a miracle! The family was happy to have both Charlotte and Annette, even though they needed some extra care for Charlotte’s heart.

Rachael shared: “We were so grateful and relieved. Those surrounding us, however, approached the topic of Down syndrome timidly. It was assumed that we were grieving but we quickly assured them the lack of sadness or grief in our hearts concerning our beautiful, breathing, moving, hearts beating, baby girls, and their extra chromosomes. After the girls were born, we excitedly dove into all things Down Syndrome.”

Now, Rachael and Cody are living happily with their two daughters and two sons. Even though Charlotte and Annette have a special condition, they are the most adorable and cheerful angels. They might be a bit smaller than other kids their age, but they are just like any other children. They eat and sleep well, and most importantly, they bring a lot of joy to the whole family. That’s why everyone loves them in a special way.
